   Welcome to Pow-Wow Point Lodge

The Howell’s - Doug, Dee, Brett and Dara
welcome you to Pow-Wow Point Lodge!

We would like to introduce you to some of our key people. Our office staff will be pleased to assist you with places to visit, make reservations for local night shows. Ross, our chef, continues to prepare tasty meals and crisp salads and all the wonderful “goodies” you can enjoy during your stay. Housekeeping will endeavor to keep all the rooms in first class condition. However, unless one lives in a room or uses the facilities, it is difficult to be aware of any shortcomings, so we would ask you to advise us of any concerns.

Blue recycling boxes are located in each room, please help us recycle. Also, tin pails for disposal of cigarette butts are located outside all rooms and at the beachfront. We would appreciate your help in maintaining our pleasant grounds. The pop machine is now located downstairs in the recreation room . Candy is available at the front desk. An ice machine is conveniently located on the lower level of the Pine Bough building and in the main hallway of Beech. Also, a gift and convenience shop is located in the main lodge, please enter off the lounge. A public pay telephone is located inside the front entrance to the lodge.

Tipping is something we are often asked about. Pow-Wow has a 6% service charge that is shared by all the staff who have helped make your stay enjoyable. If you feel a staff member has provided an “Incredible Experience” and would like to acknowledge this extra service, it could be appreciated by the staff member and should be given directly to him or her.

   A Bit of Pow-Wow History

Pow-Wow was built in 1920 by Alex Fisher. He built log cabins, flush toilets, hot and cold running water and a delco generating plant. In 1930 the lodge was opened to guests. In 1938 Pow-Wow was purchased by Doug Farley and catered to many guests from the Niagara area. In 1940 John B. Lome & Aero Tool Works bought the lodge and built large floating docks to accommodate the numerous sea planes that brought guests to Pow-Wow.Mr. Sam Vale and Mr. Brown purchased the lodge in 1948 and added an inboard motor launch for water skiing. The Chaloner family purchased Pow-Wow in 1954 and opened the lodge for the winter seasons.

In August 1969, Jack and Jacquie Howell became the new owners and the tradition of Howell Hospitality began. The Howell’s renovated all the rooms and added an indoor pool, sauna, whirlpool and other leisure activities. In 1989 Doug and Dee Howell took over from the Howell seniors. In 1993, five units were updated to meet the growing demand for deluxe quality accommodation. The Howell’s are continually renovating and adding to the resort to make their guests stay more comfortable.
